The Community Council

Myland is situated in Colchester, Essex. Myland (often called Mile End) is to the north of Colchester and is bounded by the London to Norwich railway to the south, the A12 trunk road to the north, Bergholt Road to the west and Highwoods Country Park on the east. (For a more precise description please contact the Community Council Office).

The Community Council, founded in 1999, has 17 councillors and employs a part-time clerk and assistant clerk and a part-time Street Officer.

Our office is at 101 Nayland Road, Colchester, C04 5EN, telephone 01206 853400.

The office is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 8.30 – 11.30am. On Thursday we are open 10am – 3pm. We can arrange other times by appointment – please contact the office.

Myland is home to North Station, which links Colchester with London, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich. Colchester District Hospital, The Oaks Private Hospital and Colchester Rugby Club are also in Myland. The Asda supermarket is to the south and to the north of the parish, Colchester Community Stadium is home to Colchester United Football Club.

Myland has seen unprecedented growth in housing in the last decade, and a growth in population from about 6,000 in 2000 to over 10,000 in 2008. Building continues on the Severalls and Chesterwell developments, and the Northern Gateway is now well into planning stages.

It is the Community Council’s goal to ensure that Myland gets its share of facilities associated with such huge development.
